OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents has announced the baseball player of the week for competition during March 18 to March 25. Illinois Tech pitcher James Tarala has received the recognition after his strong performance against MSOE this past Saturday.
The senior started the first game of a doubleheader against the Raiders, throwing eight shutout innings. The Crown Point, Indiana native finished with seven strikeouts and gave up just five hits and one walk to lead the Scarlet Hawks to a 2-0 win. Tarala now holds an impressive 1.50 ERA with a 3-0 record on the young season.
Tech will be back in action this Saturday, March 31 on the road at Carthage. The Hawks will play a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
