Lou Collier
Title: Assistant Coach

Lou Collier will be returning to the Scarlet Hawks staff for a second season in 2019.  Collier's focuses on team hitting and infield play for the Illinois Tech coaching staff.  The Scarlet Hawks are the first collegiate team he has coached. 

As a player, Collier played professional baseball in the major leagues from 1997-2004.  A shortstop by trade, he was orginally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the and after three years in the minors, Collier broke into "The Show" for the Pirates on June 28, 1997.  Collier remained in Pittsburgh until joining the Milwaukee Brewers (1999-2001) and then played one for the Montreal Expos (2002), the Boston Red Sox (2003 and Philadelphia Phillies (2004.)  Collier was a career .241 hitter with .658 OPS during his eight years in Major League Baseball.  He then went on to play two years in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), where he played for the LG Twins and the Hanwah Eagles.     

Coach Collier is also the founder of the Lou Collier Baseball Association (LCBA) in Chicago.  The LCBA is a program dedicated to spreading the love for and development of baseball to Chicago's inner-city youth while teaching kids necessary life skills at the same time.  Coach Collier shares his love for baseball to try and change the culture and community in the city of Chicago.

Collier attended and played at Triton College, where his number was retired in 2016.
