Cross Country Releases 2016 Schedule

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Institute of Technology men’s and women’s cross country teams have released the 2016 schedule. Each team will race in seven meets, including the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in November.

The season begins on the evening of Friday, September 2 at Elmhurst College’s Earlybird Invite. Illinois Tech has opened the season at Elmhurst’s meet each of the past 10 seasons. The event will take place at Eldridge Park.

Two of the next three meets on the schedule will be new destinations for the Scarlet Hawks. On Friday, September 9, the teams will compete in Aurora University’s Spartan Classic at Oakhurst Forest Preserve. After returning for a fourth straight year to the College of DuPage Invitational on Friday, September 23, the Scarlet Hawks will head to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg College Dan Huston Invite on Saturday, October 1.

Leading up to the USCAA Championships, Tech will compete in two familiar meets. The Scarlet Hawks return to the Benedictine University Eagle Invite on Friday, October 7 at St. James Farm in Warrenville. It will be the second meet for the Hawks at St. James Farm of the season, as the College of DuPage Invite is also at the Warrenville location. On Saturday, October 15, Tech will compete in the large UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin.

This season’s USCAA Championships will once against take place at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Florida. The event is set for Friday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. EST (10:00 p.m. CST).

“Our 2016 Fall schedule is going to set us up for great success,” said Head Coach Keith Burke. “Our incoming freshmen and upper classmen will be geared up for a great showing at the USCAA Championships in November.”
