Lydon, Diepholz Open Tech Careers with Weekly Honors

CHICAGO, Ill. - More weekly honors are rolling in for the Illinois Tech Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams. A pair of first-year swimmers, Katherine Lydon and Karsen Diepholz, have earned the Liberal Arts Conference's Swimmer of the Week honors for last Saturday's meet at Beloit College.

Lydon was dominant in her first collegiate meet, winning the 200 Yard Freestyle by over 20 seconds with a time of 1:59.94. She was also the top swimmer in the 500 Yard Freestyle at 5:22.60. In addition, Lydon swam on the winning 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team, which finished with a time of 1:47.33.

Diepholz was also very impressive. Like Lydon, Diepholz won both the 200 (1:48.33) and 500 Yard Freestyle (4:54.04) races by signficant margins. He also took part in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, helping the Scarlet Hawks place second with a time of 1:35.01.

The Scarlet Hawks return to action on November 5 as Loras College visits the Keating Sports Center's Ekco Pool. Live video will be available for the 1:00 p.m. meet.
