MILWAUKEE, Wis. - On Wednesday, the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) released the final standings for its All-Sports Awards for the 2018-19 academic year. Illinois Tech’s men’s teams placed fifth in the league, while the women’s squads placed tenth.

For each sport the NACC sponsors, a point system based off of conference tournament championships and regular season results determines the winner. The total number of sports a school sponsors within the conference is then divided into the overall number of points a team earned, which determines a final index number for standings purposes.

On the men’s side, Tech ended up with 58 total points and an average of 7.25, trailing fourth-place Concordia-Wisconsin (9.75). Men’s Tennis netted the most points for Tech, with both a regular season and conference tournament championship earning the Scarlet Hawks 15 points. Men’s Basketball, who finished fourth in the NACC regular season standings and advanced to the conference championship game, also earned double-digits with 10.5 points.

For the women, the Scarlet Hawks tallied 37 total points and an average of 5.286, trailing ninth-place Lakeland (7.222). The women also had two teams with double-digit point outputs. Women’s Soccer’s second-place finish in both the regular season and conference tournament earned Tech 14 points. Women’s Tennis, who place third in the regular season standings and fell in the NACC Semifinals, scored 12.

The 2018-19 academic year was Tech’s first in NCAA Division III and in the NACC after completing a transitional process from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Tech’s baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, and men’s and women’s volleyball teams compete in the NACC.
