Samuel Rarick Drops 42 Points, Not Enough to Secure a Men’s basketball Win

Carlinville, IL- Sophomore Forward Samuel Rarick has been outstanding for the Scarlet Hawks thus far this season. In the previous game versus Anderson he led the way with 28 points and 13 rebounds but this evening he managed to eclipse that performance with a monster game versus Blackburn College. Rarick came up with a big double-double; 42 points and 12 rebounds, going 17-for-23 from the field.

The first half was a highly competitive end to end match up with both teams exchanging baskets and struggling to create much of a lead. At the half, Blackburn College held a 1-point lead over the Scarlet Hawks 39-38. At the half, Samuel Rarick already had 22 points.

Coach Todd Kelly was hoping for a similar second half; one of high intensity, tenacity, and a close game where Rarick would take over in the last few minutes to secure an Illinois Tech victory. Unfortunately for Coach Kelly and the Scarlet Hawks, Blackburn pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Scarlet Hawks 42-30 which propelled them to an 81-68 victory. Rarick had 20 points in the second half and finished the game with a season high 42.
