OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Illinois Tech men's basketball team earned a weekly award on Tuesday, as Malik Howze was named the Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week for action between December 3 and December 10.
The Scarlet Hawks played just once last week, downing the University of Chicago 61-54. Howze was instrumental in taking down the regional Division III power, leading the team with 20 points while narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds. He was also 8-of-10 from the foul line and recorded a steal.
Howze leads Tech in scoring with 16.9 points per game, helping guide the team to a 6-2 start to the season. The Scarlet Hawks look to improve to 7-2 on Wednesday night, as the team will travel to Cornell College in Iowa for a 7:00 p.m tip-off. Cornell will provide live stats and video for the contest.
