CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois Tech men's basketball hosted Roosevelt at home on Wednesday evening, dropping a close game to the Lakers 65-56.

How it Happened

  • The Scarlet Hawks began the game with a few turnovers and both teams struggled from the floor.  Parker Joncus hit two key three-point shots to give the Hawks the early lead at 10-5.  Tech continued to struggle with turnovers but still led 14-10 behind strong bench play halfway through the first period.  The Lakers' balanced attack led by Chandler Fuzak—who had six points in the first half—kept Roosevelt close.  Tech went on a run to close out the first half and took a 23-20 lead into the break.
  • Jake Bruns started the second half with 11 points (4-4, including three 3-point field goals) and propelled the Scarlet Hawks out to a 35-30 after five minutes.  However, Roosevelt's Jake Asquini found his stroke from behind the 3-point line and tied the game at 40 with ten minutes to play.  Both teams got into foul trouble early, giving plenty of opportunities from the free-throw line down the stretch.  The Hawks' turnover woes continued and Roosevelt capitalized after tying the game with three minutes to go.  The Lakers hit enough free throws down the stretch and edged away from the Hawks, securing the win 65-56.
