Mosley’s 27 Leads Men’s Hoops in Dominant Win

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Tech men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak on Wednesday night in impressive fashion. Hosting Dominican University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Contest, the Scarlet Hawks (3-4, 1-2 NACC) defeated the Stars (1-4, 1-1 NACC) 72-55 behind Anthony Mosley Jr's best game of the 2018-19 season.

How it Happened

  • It did not take long for the senior guard to put a stamp on the game, scoring five of the game's first nine points. The Chicago product dominated, as the Scarlet Hawks scored the game's first 13 points.
  • Dominican was able to cut the lead down to six before Tech imposed its will once again. Mosley Jr. and Ahmad Muhammad combined for the game's next 13 points as the Scarlet Hawks pulled back ahead 30-13 with 6:10 left in the half.
  • With Tech up nine with 2:02 left, three-pointers by the backcourt of Muhammad and Mosley Jr. once again put the Hawks back up double digits, this time for the rest of the game. The Scarlet Hawks took a 42-30 lead into the intermission.
  • Milos Dugalic came out strong after halftime, helping increase Tech's lead to 16 (53-37) with five points and three rebounds in the first four minutes.
  • Tech's next big boost in the contest came from Zach Parduhn, as the freshman guard provided great life off the bench. He scored six points in his stint, which included a lay-up on a Dominican foul to put the Scarlet Hawks up 24 (69-45) with 6:11 left, the team's largest lead of the day.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Mosley Jr. had a season-high 27 points on 11-of-16 shooting. He also tallied five rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots in just 27 minutes. He had 20 points in the first half alone.
  • Jake Digiorgio was also solid, recording 12 points and 17 rebounds. Ten of his board came before halftime.
  • Muhammad was also in double digits with 10 points.

Stats to Know

  • Tech dominated the glass, outdoing the Stars 48-26.
  • The Scarlet Hawks shot 51.7% from the floor and 40.0% from three-point range. Dominican was just 32.3% from the floor and 27.6% from beyond the arc.
