The 2020-21 season will be Todd Kelly’s seventh as Illinois Institute of Technology head men's basketball coach. (76-83, six seasons)

The program experienced strong resurgence under Kelly as he inherited a zero-win team prior to the 2014-15 season, and proceeded to lead the Scarlet Hawks to a 23-5 record in 2016-17, the most wins in school history in just his third season. Kelly led Illinois Tech to the NCAA's largest win increase from the 2015-16 season (four wins) to the 2016-17 season (23 wins). The program's quick turnaround culminated in winning the 2016-17 USCAA Championship. The 2017-18 season resulted in Kelly being named USCAA Men's Basketball Coach of the Year. He is also a two-time Association of Division III Independents Coach of the Year (2016-17, 2017-18).

The Scarlet Hawks saw a seamless transition into a full NCAA Division III member in 2018-19 as they registered a 16-12 overall record and secured a spot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament Championship Game. Kelly led Illinois Tech to their second-straight NACC Tournament appearance in 2019-20, which ended with a 12-14 record. The Scarlet Hawks have accumulated three All-NACC First Team selections, one All-NACC Second Team selection, two NACC Defensive Player of the Year honors, and one D3Hoops.com All-Central Region Third Team player under Kelly's watch.

Kelly arrived to Illinois Tech following five seasons as assistant men's basketball coach at North Central College (Ill.) from 2009-2014. The Cardinals reached the CCIW Tournament four times during Kelly's tenure, which includes two CCIW Regular Season Championships, and two CCIW Tournament Championships. Kelly helped guide North Central to the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament Championship Game, as well as the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament Sweet Sixteen. North Central accumulated a 91-47 record over Kelly's five seasons.

Prior to North Central, Kelly was the head boy's basketball coach at Providence St. Mel High School for three seasons from 2006-2009. He led Providence St. Mel to the 2009 Private School League Championship, and an apperance in the regional championship game.

Kelly obtained his bachelor of arts degree in communications from Millikin University, and earned a master of science degree in sports management from Western Illinois. He resides in Bolingbrook, Illinois with wife Adrianne, daughter Amelia and son Austen.
