CHICAGO—Illinois Institute of Technology men's lacrosse freshman goalie Zane Handy landed Midwest Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Handy is the first Scarlet Hawk in program history to earn the distinction.
The Dana Point, California native registered 14 saves in the Scarlet Hawks' 15-5 decision over Beloit College on March 10, which marked the program's first victory. Handy, who made his first collegiate start against the Buccaneers, saw 54:44 of action and also registered four ground balls in the win.
The Scarlet Hawks finished their inaugural season with a 1-1 record.
