Men's Soccer Falls Short at MSOE

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Illinois Tech men's soccer team trekked north to Milwaukee on Friday night to take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Despite a late goal, the Scarlet Hawks fell to the Raiders 2-1.

How it Happened

  • Both teams committed various fouls early on in the match, with the schools combining for seven fouls in the first eight minutes. The first shot of the match did not come until the 9th minute, when Braden Andryk of MSOE put a shot on net that was saved by freshman Alex Kern.
  • Noah Griffith and Peter Fouchet fired the only two shots of the first half for Tech, but the Scarlet Hawk defense held the Raiders to just four shots of their own. Both teams went into halftime tied at zero.
  • The Scarlet Hawks came out aggressive in the second half, as Mazen Al Hourani and Norikazu Honda each tallied shots in the first eight minutes.
  • However, the Raiders would control possession for most of the half. The team fired 10 of the next 11 shots and scored in the 62nd and 86th minutes to go up 2-0.
  • Just 16 seconds after MSOE's second goal, the Scarlet Hawks scored courtsey of an own goal off of a free kick deflection from a Raiders defender.
  • Neither team recorded a shot over the next four minutes to give MSOE the 2-1 victory.
