Men's Soccer Announces 2019 Recruiting Class

Ten players spanning the United States will join the 2019 Illinois Tech Men's Soccer Team. Head Coach Marc Colwell and the men's soccer program has announced the addition of Matthew Beasley, Jack Hnatek, David De La Fuente, Sachin De Silva, Michael Kaczowka, Justin Knust, Caleb Terronez, Emilio Velazquez, Tyler Vitale, and Matthew Wareham.

"I am excited to announce our 2019 recruiting class," Colwell said. "This group adds talent and depth across all lines on the team. We have attracted excellent student-athletes from coast to coast. The competition for positions will be intense in the pre-season as we have a strong returning group that is looking to return to our place among the Midwest Region's best teams."

Here are the details of the ten-member 2019 Scarlet Hawks Recruiting Class:

Matthew Beasley
Defense
Clarkson, Mich.
Club: Vardar

Colwell on Beasley: "Matthew is an outside back that can get forward and impact the game. He has experience at an outstanding club team that will have him prepared for the college level."

 
  • Plays for Vardar 2000-2001 ECNL Team and member of their Academy Team for three years.
  • Vardar advanced to the 2018 Regional Championships in San Diego.
  • Plays for Brandon High School in Michigan.
  • 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-County, 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-Area, 2nd Team All-State in 2018.
  • Intended Major is Undecided Bachelor of Science.

 

David De La Fuente
Midfielder
Chicago, Ill.
Club:
A.D. Villaviciosa de Odon (Spain)

Colwell on De La Fuente: "David took a gap year before entering college and is currently living in Spain. He is training with a local club team that will only enhance his ability on the ball."

  • Graduated from Lane Tech High School in Illinois in 2018.
  • Played for Chicago Fire Juniors City 2000 Red Elite team.
  • Illinois 2000 ODP Team in 2016.
  • Intended Major is Aerospace Engineering.  

 

Sachin De Silva
Midfielder/Forward
Sammarish, Wash.
Club: Patedadores Academy

Colwell on De Silva: "Sachin is a creative attacking player that likes take players on 1 v 1. He looks for his shot and can also get and down the width to provide service."

 
  • Played club for Patedadoes Academy.   
  • Represented Washington State in Region IV ODP Championships and called up for Region IV ODP team.
  • Graduated from Lake Washington High School in Washington in 2018.
  • Currently playing for Kirkland FC in the WWPL.
  • Intended Major is Business Administration. 

 

Jack Hnatek
Defense
Carlsbad, Calif.
Club: Orange County Surf

Colwell on Hnatek: "Jack is an intelligent player that knows when to build and when to stay home as a defender. His OC Surf team is one of the top teams in California and he is an integral part of their back line."

  • OC Surf has advanced to the 2019 Far West Regional Championships in Boise, Idaho.
  • Played for La Costa Canyon High School in California.
  • Was a member of the Cal South ODP team.

Michael Kaczowka

Club: Chicago Magic

Colwell on Kaczowka: "Michael is a 6'3" target front that has great feet for his size. He makes great runs off the ball and finds a way to score goals. He will make an immediate impact on the team."

  • Played for Prospect High School in Illinois.
  • Intended Major is Information and Technology Management 

 

Justin Knust
Midfielder

Colwell on Knust: "Justin has a natural understanding of the game. Fluid movement off the ball and good communication."

  • Played for Lincoln Southwest High School in Nebraska.

  • Academic All-State in 2019.
  • Intended Major is Electrical Engineering.  

 

Caleb Terronez
Midfielder/Defense

Club: Bulls SC

Colwell on Terronez: "Caleb is a nifty player that take players on 1 v 1 in the width either as a winger or outside back. Looks to play 1-2's and get forward."

  • Member South Carolina ODP team in 2017.
  • Intended Major is Mechanical Engineering.  

 

Emilio Velazquez
Goalkeeper
Magnolia, Texas
Club: Houston Dynamo YSC

Colwell on Velazquez: "Emilio has good technique and hands. He can play out of the back with his feet and organizes his back line."

 
  • Plays for the Houston Dynamo YSC Pre-Academy team.
  • Member of Houston Dynamo SC since 2016.
  • Two-Year varsity starter in goal for Magnolia High School in Texas.
  • Academic All-District in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
  • Intended Major is Architecture.

 

Tyler Vitale
Midfielder
East Hampton, Conn.
Club: CFC North

Colwell on Vitale: "Tyler can play as an outside mid or attacking mid. He is a smart, athletic player that will challenge for playing time right away."

Matthew Wareham
