Scarlet Hawk Men race to split at home opener

Chicago, Ill.- The Illinois Tech Men's swimming & diving team opened their home slate of meets at Ecko Pool Saturday competing against Loras College and Franklin College. The Scarlet Hawks swam to a split decision defeating Loras 149-49 and falling to Franklin 148-81.

Meet Highlights

     -The 400 Yard Medley Relay team got the day off to a strong start with a first place finish at 3:38.86

     -Julian Escasa won the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:48.85

     -Tyler Van Wagener finished second in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a 23.16 time, just .04   behind the first place finisher

     -Illinois Tech took the top two spots in the 100 Yard Freestyle with Julian Escasa taking first with a time of 49.20 and Tyler Van Wagener right behind him at 50.14

     -Sam Kalenowski won the 200 Yard Breaststroke clocking in at 2:16.58

     -The Scarlet Hawks will return to action this weekend in Kenosha, Wis. as they take on Illinois Wesleyan University and Carthage College
