Tech Men Win Opener

Chicago, Illinois- The Illinois Institute of Technology men's swim team faced the University of Wisconisin-Whitewater in their home opener, and won the meet 129-89. The men used a strong second half, which they outscored Whitewater by more than forty points, to win the meeet. 

The Scarlet Hawk men couldn't quite find their stride to start the meet, but things started rolling when Sophomore diver, Adan Calleja, had a strong debut performance to win the diving competition. The men would win 5 out of the next 6 events, and had great contributions all across the board. They were led by newcomers Mark Klinchin in the 500 freestyle, and Kanoa Sawai in the 200 butterfly, and 200 free relay. Klinchin also won in his debut race, the 1000 freestyle, in the first half of the meet. The team also had a multitude of points scored by their returnees, led by junior Tyler Van Wagener (100 free), and sophomore Sam Kalenowski (200 breaststroke).

The Tech men will return to action on October 19th, versus St. Ambrose.
