Scarlet Hawks Claim Fifth Place at Chicago Phoenix Fall Classic

CHICAGO-Day three of the University of Chicago Phoenix Fall Classic was upon the Illinois Institute of Technology men's swimming & diving team. The Scarlet Hawks wrapped-up the event in fifth place out of 10 schools with 485 points. The host Maroons claimed the team championship with 1431.5 points.

Seth Wissenbach continued to impress for the Scarlet Hawks in the 400 yard individual medley, where he notched seventh place with a 4:15.73. Kanoa Sawai had a stellar day for IIT with an eighth-place time of 50.26 in the 100 yard butterfly. The eighth-place trend kept rolling courtesy of Samuel Kastan, who crossed the finish line at 21.73 in the 50 yard freestyle. 

The 200 yard backstroke was all Samuel Kalenowski, who captured ninth place with a 2:12.85. Ninth place was also the result for the 400 yard freestyle squad of Kanoa Sawai, Tyler Van Wagener, Samuel Kastan and Guanghao Ou as they notched a 3:13.75. 

The Scarlet Hawks will hit the pool again on Saturday, December 7 at Franklin College. The dual meet will kick-off at 1:00 p.m.
