FRANKLIN, IND.—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's swimming & diving team returned from Thanksgiving break with a Saturday-afternoon dual meet at Franklin College. The Scarlet Hawks couldn't take down the Grizzlies as they dropped a 172-59 decision on the road.
IIT came up on top in the 1000 yard freestyle, where Mark Klinchin tallied a first-place time of 10:09.69, while Eric Zhang followed in second place with a 10:33.47.
Second place was a theme for the Scarlet Hawks as the 200 yard medley relay team of Matthew Randle, Kanoa Sawai, Guanghao Ou and Tyler Van Wagener crossed the finish line at 1:39.81. Samuel Kastan kept it going in the 50 yard freestyle with a second-place time of 22.21. The 400 yard freestyle relay squad of Kastan, Van Wagener, Eric Zhang and Seth Wissenbach came through in second place with a 3:21.02. Kanoa Sawai crossed the finish line in second place in the 200 yard individual medley with a 2:01.96.
The Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Saturday, January 11 at home vs. North Central College (Ill.) at 1:00 p.m.
