Panthers Too Much For Scarlet Hawks

PARK FOREST, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's tennis team squared-off against NCAA Division I Eastern Illinois University at the Park Forest Tennis & Health Center on Friday afternoon. The Scarlet Hawks came up empty in a 7-0 loss to the Panthers.

IIT falls to 1-2 while Eastern Illinois improves to 7-1.

Andy Fang/Yousef Abdo kept things interesting in #3 doubles as they dropped a 7-6 heartbreaker to Logan Charbonneau/Pau Riera. The #2 doubles match saw Alann Torres/Roman Shishlov battle their way to a 6-4 loss to Juan Carlos Garrido/Thomas Wallace while Brody Croonquist/Davis Housman dropped a 6-1 decision to Gage Kingsmith/Rohan Srivastava in #1 doubles.

The Scarlet Hawks came up empty in the singles portion, but that nearly wasn't the case when Fang gave Braden Davis a fight in a 7-6, 6-1 score in the #6 slot. Housman was also competitive with a 6-3, 7-5 loss to Garrido in the #2 spot.

The Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Saturday, February 8 at UW-Whitewater. Match time is set for 5:00 p.m.
