Men's Tennis Opens NACC Play With Weekend Sweep

Plymouth, Wis. - The Illinois Tech men's tennis team completed the conference-opening weekend sweep when they defeated Lakeland University 9-0 Sunday morning in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Coupled with the Scarlet Hawks 9-0 home match victory over Marian University on Saturday afternoon, the team starts out the conference portion of their schedule 2-0, while improving to 4-9 overall. Lakeland fell to 1-7 overall (0-2 NACC). 

Number one singles player Alann Torres, number three Nabil Fawaz, number four Pablo Marroquin Borque and number five Jordan Lauer all finished the weekend perfect, winning their matches on Saturday and Sunday by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Number two singles player Davis Housman also went 2-0 on the weekend, winning his match against Marian on Saturday 6-0, 6-1 and his match on Sunday at Lakeland 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles play, the number two duo of Housman and Huy Ngo went 2-0 over the weekend, winning both matches by 8-0 scores. The number one doubles unit of Torres and Lauer also went 2-0, winning their Saturday match against Marian 8-0 and their Sunday match at Lakeland 8-2. The third doubles unit of Borque and Fawaz won by forfeit vs Marian on Saturday and won their match at Lakeland on Sunday by an 8-0 score.
