Distance Runners Lead Men’s Track and Field at NCC

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Tech's women's track and field team was busy on Friday night, partaking in North Central College's Cardinal Opener. The Scarlet Hawks finished in eighth place in the meet.

Meet Highlights

  • Tom Doyle stood out for the Scarlet Hawks, placing 15th in the 800 Meter Run at 2:05.13. He also finished 18th in the mile with a time of 4:49.24.
  • Anthony Tuman was also strong in the mile, placing 23rd at 4:55.78. He also placed 23rd in the 800 Meter Run (2:10.23).
  • Cole Dammeier placed 12th in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 9:32.43.
  • Zander Wigney (14th, 53.33s) and Brendan Batliner (16th, 53.51s) both competed well in the 400 Meter Dash.
  • Tech's 4x400 Meter Relay team of Oluwaseun Ogunsanya, Wigney, Demis Thomas, and Batliner was also strong, placing 10th with a time of 3:40.09.
  • Barry Brookins' top event was the weight throw, where he placed 11th with an 11.37m mark.
  • Saisaketh Valluri placed 15th in the long jump (5.89m).
