NAPERVILLE, ILL.—The third indoor meet of 2020 pitted the Illinois Institute of Technology men's track & field squad at North Central College (Ill.) for the second-straight week on Friday when they competed at the Snow Day Invitational. The Scarlet Hawks registered a seventh-place score of 29 points, while host and defending NCAA Division III Indoor National Champion North Central (Ill.) claimed the team title with 213 points.

"I thought we competed well and had another solid showing overall as a team," said head men's and women's track & field coach Tyler McQuality. "I think the training after three weeks is starting to make our legs a little heavy but that's the time of the year we're in. We saw a lot of positive things tonight and look forward to the weeks to come to work on things we need to."

Barry Brookins was a force to be reckoned with for IIT as he commanded the field events with a sixth-place mark of 13.33m in the weight throw. He built on that with a career-best 12.55m in the shot put, good enough for seventh place.

Thomas Doyle wreaked havoc for the distance group when he crossed the finish line at 2:38.36 in the 1000 meter run to secure fourth place and a career best. Evan Balizado highlighted the mid-distance events with a fourth-place, career-best time of 1:26.83 in the 600 meter run and teamed with Jacob Gagner, Doyle and Louis Ketchman for third place in the 4x400 meter relay with a 3:37.46.

The 200 meter dash resulted in a ninth-place time of 23.77 for Robert Mathis. He added a 10th-place mark of 7.25 in the 60 meter dash.

The Scarlet Hawks will compete at the Olivet Nazarene Invite on Saturday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m.
