Men's Volleyball Drops Wabash College 3-0

Crawfordsville, Ind. - Despite a third set that went to extra time, the Illinois Tech men's volleyball team still completed a 3-0 set sweep and match victory over Wabash College Friday night in Crawfordsville, Indiana. With the win, the Scarlet Hawks improved to 4-2 overall on the young season. The Little Giants dropped to 2-4 overall.

After dropping their opening match of the season, the Hawks have now won four of their last five matches.

The Hawks never trailed in the first set, using a 5-0 run midway through the set to secure the opening stanza.

The second set played more even, with the score tied at 14-14 before the Scarlet Hawks took five of the next six points to pull away late.

In the final set, the Hawks held a 24-20 advantage before Wabash scored four straight points to tie the set. Each team traded points for several volleys until the Hawks closed out the set and match 31-29.

  • Riley Laite paced the Hawks with 13 kills, good for a .241 attack percentage.
  • Jackson Van Engen added seven kills with a .667 attach percentage.
  • Lucas Guanes had 31 assists and eight digs in the contest.
  • The Little Giants were led by Jackson Leeper (eight kills), Will Beikes (20 assists), and Luis Rivera (seven digs).
