O'Donnell Records Double-Double in Loss to North Central

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Tech women's basketball team dropped to 0-6 after losing a competitive game to North Central University on Friday night at Keating Sports Center.

How it Happened

  • The Scarlet Hawks kept the game close in the first quarter, playing solid defense.  Kaylee Wicka started well for the Hawks with 8 points in the first period.  But the Rams' Lizzy Swanson added 10 points of her own, helping her team out to a 23-9 lead.
  • The Rams continued to add to their lead in the second, primarily behind the three-point line.  NCU shot over 35% from three in the first half and increased the lead to 36-19 at halftime.
  • Tech struggled with some turnovers and missed shots to start the second half.  Erin Efimoff added seven points in the quarter as the Hawks trailed by 20 after three.
  • Shannon O'Donnell got going a bit more in the fourth with five points and four rebounds.  But the Rams slowed the game down and wound the clock.  Tech kept up the effort but eventually ran out of steam, taking the loss with a score of 67-47.

  • O'Donnell recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while also adding three assists
  • Erin Efimoff also contributed 12 points with five rebounds, one steal and one block
  • Wicka scored eight points while getting two steals

Stats to Know

  • Both teams shot well from the floor: 32.1% for Tech and 41.4% for NCU
  • The Rams shot 34.4% from behind the three-point line
  • NCU also outrebounded Tech (45-36)
  • Tech committed 19 turnovers
