LISLE, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's basketball team played its first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) game on Saturday as the team traveled to Benedictine University. After Tech stayed close through the first quarter, the Eagles pulled away from the Scarlet Hawks to win 67-26. The Scarlet Hawks fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in NACC play.
How it Happened
- After Shannon O'Donnell scored the first basket of the game on Tech's first possession, the Scarlet Hawks were able to stay close through the first 10 minutes with strong defense. Tech held the Eagles to just 5-of-22 shooting (22.7%) in the quarter, as BenU lead 12-8.
- The Eagles offense began to click in the middle two quarters, as Benedictine outscored the Scarlet Hawks 39-9 over the next 20 minutes of action.
- In the fourth quarter, the Scarlet Hawks had its best offensive quarter of the contest with nine points thanks to 12 trips to the foul line.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- O'Donnell (seven rebounds) and Erin Efimoff (two rebounds, two steals) each had seven points to lead the team.
- Alyssa Hauert led all players with 10 rebounds. She also had five points.
