MILWAUKEE, Wis. - A shorthanded Illinois Tech women's basketball team traveled to Alverno College on Thursday night for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) contest. After two attempts to play the contest were postponed due to the recent weather, Mother Nature finally gave way to some basketball as the Inferno (6-16, 5-12 NACC) downed the Scarlet Hawks (0-21, 0-17 NACC) 65-37.
How it Happened
- The Inferno doubled-up the Scarlet Hawks after one quarter, leading 18-9 while shooting 41.2% from the floor.
- In the second, six different Alverno players made a shot from the floor as the lead increased to 20 at halftime.
- Tech's best quarter was the third, as the Scarlet Hawks scored 16 points and shot 50% from the floor (6-of-12). The Scarlet Hawks won the quarter 16-15.
- Nineteen seconds into the fourth quarter, Erin Efimoff's fifth foul meant Tech would play the remainder of the contest with four players. Erin Nelson helped keep the Scarlet Hawks afloat, hitting two three-pointers in the period.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Nelson hit a career-high five three-pointers, scored a season-high 15 points, and hauled in a season-high 11 rebounds in her best game of the 2018-19 season.
- Efimoff had 10 points and five rebounds in 30 minutes.
