O'Donnell Posts Double Double in Loss at Dominican

RIVER FOREST, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team squared-off against Dominican University in a Wednesday-night road bout in River Forest, Illinois. The Scarlet Hawks overcame a 12-2 first-quarter deficit and got themselves within 15-12 after the frame, but couldn't keep the momentum going in an 84-51 loss to the Stars. 

The Scarlet Hawks fall to 0-12, 0-7 NACC while Dominican improves to 7-4, 3-3 NACC. 

Shannon O'Donnell, who didn't leave the floor, posted her fifth double double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Scarlet Hawks. Erin Nelson nearly joined O'Donnell on the double double train with 12 points and nine boards while Meredith Williams also chipped in 12 points to round out the IIT players in double figures. 

O'Donnell, who entered Wednesday leading the NACC with 66 free throws made and 98 free throw attempts, nailed 15-of-18 shots at the charity stripe for a Scarlet Hawks team that went 23-of-31. 

Five Scarlet Hawks played 30-plus minutes in the contest, commanded by O'Donnell and Josie Mace's complete-game effort. Amari Stafford posted a game-high 20 points for the Stars. 

IIT will return to action on Tuesday, January 14 at Marian University for a 7:00 p.m. start.
