CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's lacrosse program is happy to announce the addition of Molly Byrne to its coaching staff. Byrne brings a bevy of coach and playing experience to the team, which Head Coach Kirk Lamitie believe will enhance Scarlet Hawk lacrosse.

"I am excited to have Molly's experience of playing at a high level, as well as working with athletes of all levels of play, on our staff," said Head Coach Kirk Lamitie. "We need to increase our level of play on the defensive end of the field, and Molly will help bring our program to the next level."

Molly has been coaching lacrosse since 2010 with Northside Youth Lacrosse, where she started out by coaching beginners the fundamentals of the sport. As Northside Youth grew, so did the needs of the players, as Molly moved from only coaching beginners to intermediate and advanced players. In the summer of 2012, she begain coaching at the high school level, and has continued to do so since. She primarily focuses on defensive positioning and skills as well as transitions. Molly continues to coach with Northside Youth Lacrosse as well as True Lacrosse: a premier club travel program in the midwest.

Before attending Regis, Molly attended Regina Dominican high school ('12) in Wilmette, Illinois. While in high school, she played on the lacrosse team and ran cross country. Also, she comes from a lacrosse family with ties to Illinois Tech. Her mother is a prominent lacrosse coach in the chicagloand area, her father graduated from Illinois Tech in 1989, and her sister plays lacrosse for Butler University.
