Spartans Blank Scarlet Hawks in 2021 Season Opener

MONTGOMERY, ILL.—For the first time in 390 days, the Illinois Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team took the field as they traveled to Aurora for a Wednesday-afternoon bout. The Scarlet Hawks came up empty in a 22-0 loss to the Spartans.

Illinois Tech begins the season 0-1, 0-1 NACC while Aurora improves to 4-3, 1-0 NACC.

Freshman goalie Caitlin Davitt registered 14 saves in her collegiate debut for the Scarlet Hawks, while Shanie Scoles converted the team's lone shot of the game. Catherine Klemp paced the Illinois Tech defense with three caused turnovers.

Claire Carlson led all players with five goals for Aurora. Spartans goalie Michaela Yngve tallied one save in the complete-game shutout.

The Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Saturday, April 10 at Stuart Field against Marian (Wis.) at 11:00 a.m.
