Impressive Marks for Scarlet Hawks in Loss to Foresters

RESULTS

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's swimming & diving squad hosted Lake Forest College in their final regular season meet of 2019-20 on Saturday. The Scarlet Hawks came up on the wrong end of a 112-69 score that included five first-place finishes. 

"Our women swam well today," said IIT head men's and women's swimming & diving coach Andy Parro. "We showed a lot of potential for strong racing at our conference championship in a few weeks. Great work to Jamie and Katy, our seniors, on their final home meet."

Katherine Lydon sat atop the 1650 freestyle relay podium with an 18:46.06, and also claimed first place in the 50 yard freestyle with a 25.30. 

Anna Slominski kept the first-place trend alive in the 200 yard individual medley with a 2:14.52, while Megan Burrill followed in third place with a 2:21.87. Slominski built on that momentum with a 2:29.02 in the 200 yard breaststroke, good enough for first place. 

The 200 yard freestyle relay squad of Christina Hiotaky, Katherine Lydon, Anna Slominski and Jamie Wurster registered gold with a 1:44.61. The 400 yard medley relay squad of Wurster, Hiotaky, Burrill and Jamie Dean clocked-in second place with a 4:25.55. 

Burrill took second in the 200 yard butterfly with a 2:15.42. Claudia Flores crossed the finish line at 2:15.93 in the 200 yard freestyle, good enough for third place. 

The Scarlet Hawks will compete in the Liberal Arts Championship in Elsah, Illinois, hosted by Principia College on Wednesday, February 12 - Saturday, February 15.
