Track and Field Opens Season at Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Institute of Technology men's and women's track and field teams opened up the season on Saturday at the University of Chicago's Phoenix Open. The Tech men placed fifth, while the women did not record a team score.

Meet Highlights

  • Demis Thomas led the way for the Illinois Tech men in the track events, finishing ninth in the 60m dash (7.44s) and seventh in the 200m dash (24.43s).
  • Tech had two 4x400m relay teams compete on the men's side. The group of Pranoy Roy, Aini Xeukeranti, Wayiti Kawasier, and Quentin Shipley-Mellon placed eighth at 3:55.49.
  • Joseph Yassin stood out for Tech in the shot put, placing second at 12.76m.
  • Rebecca Bell competed in the 400m dash on the women's side, placing eighth.
