Rockford, Illinois- The Illinois Tech women's volleyball team (4-10, 1-2 NACC) traveled to Rockford, on Friday night, for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) match, at Rockford University (6-13, 0-5 NACC). In another full game, the Scarlet Hawks came out on top, winning three sets to two, over the Rockford Regents.

 

Set Scores:

 

Tech 3, Rockford 2: (25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 28-26, 15-9)

 

How it Happened:

 

Tech came out hot, winning the first two sets. The team powered their way, to a clean set two win, with 15 kills and only 4 errors.

 

The Scarlet Hawks faded in set three, but took the Regents to the brink in set 4, where extra points were needed to decide the set.

 

The Tech women dominated the fifth set by playing great defense.

 

Scarlet Hawk Standouts:

 

Karen Marrufo-Zubara had a great all-around game, contributing 16 kills and 26 digs to the winning effort. 

 

April Williams was also a force on offense, chipping in with 15 kills.

 

Sinjin Acuna and Courtney Darling were defensive stalwarts with a combined 53 digs. 

 

Acuna was the match leader in digs, with 31.

 

Stats to know:

 

Tech dominated at the net, out blocking Rockford 13-6.

Tech faces another NACC foe, and will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, to play against Edgewood, on Saturday October 5th.
