Ted Howell Named 2020-21 Co-NACC Male Student-Athlete of the Year

CHICAGO, ILL.—Illinois Institute of Technology baseball senior first baseman Ted Howell continued to rack up post season awards on Tuesday afternoon when he was named 2020-21 Co-NACC Male Student-Athlete of the Year along with Aurora's Gavin Zimbelman (football). Lakeland's Ali Wilson (golf) was named 2020-21 NACC Female Student-Athlete of the Year. This marks Illinois Tech's first-ever NACC Male Student-Athlete of the Year recipient.

To be eligible for NACC Male or Female Student-Athlete of the Year, an individual must be a graduating senior. Howell graduated with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average as a mechanical engineering major.

Howell, a native of Parker, Colorado, appeared in 147 games over his five seasons with the Scarlet Hawks; which includes a .292 (152-of-520) batting average, 88 runs scored, 43 doubles, 17 home runs, 112 RBI, a .481 slugging percentage, and a .357 on-base percentage. Howell saved his best for last in 2021 as he led the Scarlet Hawks with 20 doubles, seven home runs, 43 RBI, and a .771 slugging percentage. He concluded the 2021 campaign with a .407 (48-of-118) batting average, 34 runs scored, and a .452 on-base percentage. His 20 doubles ranked seventh in NCAA Division III, while his 0.69 doubles per game came in at No. 2 in the country.
