Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech swimming and diving team competes in their second meet of the season, as they make the short drive south to the University of Chicago for a date with the nationally-ranked Maroons swimming and diving program Saturday at 1:00 PM CT.

The Scarlet Hawks, coming off of their season-opening win at home against Wisconsin-Whitewater, will take a step up in class against the Maroons fifth-ranked women's squad and their sixth-ranked men's squad. The Maroons will have a split-squad in place for this meet, as half of their team will be competing at Wheaton College Saturday afternoon. This will be the season-opening meet for UChicago.

Coach's Comments:

"Looking forward to racing at UChicago – this is where our mid-season meet is in late-November, so a great opportunity for the team to familiarize themselves with the environment and pool" said Interim Head Coach Billy Bafia.

Bafia continued: "This is the first meet we are swimming 200s of stroke, so will be good to see how the team is doing in these events for feedback as we prepare for the mid-season meet and the rest of our meets leading up to mid-season. Last season we didn’t have a strong showing in the 200s of stroke at mid-season, so we are hoping that with some of the early work that we are doing, the team will be better prepared this year."

"Major focus this week has been on 200s of stroke, so looking forward to all of those races" Bafia concluded.
