Regents Double Down on Rarick; Hand Scarlet Hawks a Tough Home Loss

Chicago, Illinois – Despite Rockford University's attempt to shut down Samuel Rarick, he was still able to muster up 27 points while grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds in Wednesday night's men's basketball game at Keating Sports Center.  Rarick, who is averaging 27 points a game, was constantly double and triple-teamed when he found the ball.  On the other end, the Regents found their hot hand in John O'Bryan, who dropped in 31 points for the 64-51 Rockford win.

The first half saw a slow start on the offensive ends of the court as only 10 total points were scored in the first 10 minutes of the game.  For the remainder of the first half, the Hawks and Regents traded baskets and headed into the locker room at 23-20 in favor of the Regents.

Rarick went on a run to start off the second half, scoring all 10 of the Hawks' points to bring the game to a 30-30 affair.  O'Bryan then took over and poured in four of his seven 3-pointers to open up the game for Rockford.  Illinois Tech Freshman guard Manish Suthar chipped in 10 points off the bench, getting the Hawks back within six points, but the effort fell short as the Regents pulled away.

The Scarlet Hawks will next host Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday with a 4:30pm tip-off.
