Rarick Drops 34 in Home Loss to Purdue North Central

Chicago, IL- Sophomore sensation Samuel Rarick had another big night putting up 34 points along with 8 rebounds as the Hawks hosted Purdue University North Central. Rarick shot 65% from the field (13-for-20) and once again was the go to player for the Scarlet Hawks offense even though he was constantly doubled by Purdue.

The first half started as a close intriguing match-up with both teams exchanging baskets in the early minutes. Purdue moved the ball well in the first few minutes but a disciplined Hawks defense kept the game within reach until North Central was able to pull away in the later minutes of the half.  The Hawks headed into the locker room down 41-27. Rarick accounted for 21 of the 27 points scored by Illinois Tech in the first.

The start of the second half was nothing like the first, unfortunately for Tech; Purdue opened the second half on a 12-0 run playing great on the offensive side of the ball and unfortunately the Hawks could not counter with a run of their own. Purdue continued to amass to their lead, outscoring the Hawks 51-24 in the second half. Rarick was the only constant form of offense in the second for Tech with 13 points.  The Scarlet Hawks found themselves on the losing end of a 92-51 score. Anders Bybjerg chipped in with 8 points for the Hawks.

Tech Men's Basketball team will be in action again on Thursday the 22nd of January away to Moody Bible at 7pm.
