WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Illinois Tech men's basketball team played a close contest against Carthage College at Carroll University on Saturday, falling to the Red Men 70-68. The Scarlet Hawks dropped to 1-2 on the season.

How it Happened

  • Offense was hard to find early on for both teams, combining for only six points in the first five minutes.
  • The Scarlet Hawks would work to build a five-point lead, but the Red Men came back to even things up and eventually take a 33-28 advantage into halftime.
  • Carthage came out aggressive in the second half and climbed its lead to double digits, reaching as high as 11 with 10:28 remaining.
  • Tech, however, was not to be denied. Jake Bruns made three-pointers on two straight possessions to pull Tech to within four with just over eight minutes to play. While Carthage began to answer, Tech kept working and managed to take a 59-58 lead on an Anthony Mosley Jr. basket with 5:06 to play.
  • Carthage ended up coming back to tie things up, and a Kienan Baltimore three-pointer with 1:28 left ended up being the decider. Up 70-67, the Red Men held the Hawks to just one point over the final 92 seconds.
