CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's basketball team's (12-14, 10-10 NACC) second full season as an NCAA Division III member in 2019-20 was highlighted by a late-season run that saw them win six of their last seven regular season games after they entered February with a 6-12, 4-9 NACC mark. The Scarlet Hawks' 87-80 win over Rockford on the final day of the regular season locked them the No. 6 seed in the 2019-20 NACC Men's Basketball Tournament, their second-straight appearance in the event. Illinois Tech's late-season magic came to an end in the 2019-20 NACC Men's Basketball Tournament First Round, where they dropped a 68-63 decision at No. 3 Concordia (Wis.).

Award Season

The Scarlet Hawks pulled down a plethora of major awards for the first time in program history. Senior Max Hisatake landed a spot on the 2019-20 D3Hoops.com All-Central Region Third Team, which marked the first Scarlet Hawks men's basketball player to land the honor. The Las Vegas, Nevada native also achieved a program-first when he was named to the January 14 D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week. Hisatake was also a two-time NACC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, earning the honor on December 15 and January 5.
