Strong Second Half Powers Raiders Past Scarlet Hawks

CHICAGO—The third game on the 2021 docket pitted the Illinois Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team at MSOE in a Saturday-afternoon bout. The Scarlet Hawks held a 17-15 advantage over MSOE in shots at halftime, where they trailed by a slim 5-3 score. The Raiders would cruise to a 10-3 victory after they held Illinois Tech scoreless in the second half.

The Scarlet Hawks exit Saturday with an 0-3, 0-1 NACC mark while MSOE improves to 3-6, 3-0 NACC.

James Enterline has continued to make an effortless transition from goalie to attack for the Scarlet Hawks, as he converted one of three Scarlet Hawks goals in the opening half along with Spencer Meace and Ryan Arbour. Meace gave Illinois Tech their lone lead of the contest at 1-0 with a goal 0:31 into the contest. 

The Scarlet Hawks outshot MSOE 17-15 at halftime, but only mustered four shots in the second half as MSOE won the scoring battle 5-0 en route to a 10-3 victory.

Goalie Zane Handy played the game of his life for Illinois Tech as he registered a career-high 18 saves. Christopher Stone converted a 5-of-10 mark in the face-off circle for the Scarlet Hawks, while Aidan Gans peppered a team-best six shots.

MSOE outshot the Scarlet Hawks 43-21. Tanner Whipps led all scorers with four goals for the Raiders. Sean Finneran and Thomas Miles each saw time in net for MSOE, and combined for seven saves.

Illinois Tech will host Aurora at Stuart Field on Wednesday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m.
