CHICAGO—A two-game home stand to end the 2021 season was upon the Illinois Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team on Wednesday night, when they hosted Benedictine (Ill.). The Scarlet Hawks, who opened the 2021 season with a 16-11 loss to the Eagles on March 13, couldn't even the season series as they dropped a 10-6 decision.

Illinois Tech falls to 2-6, 2-4 NACC while Benedictine improves to 10-2, 5-0 NACC.

The Eagles either tied or led from start-to-finish, but that proved to be deceiving as Illinois Tech outshot Benedictine 37-34 and trailed by a narrow margin of 2-1 after the first quarter. The Scarlet Hawks would trail by one goal again with 10:50 left in the fourth quarter, when Ryan Arbour converted his hat trick to get his team within 7-6. Benedictine's Scott Ransom engineered a 3-0 run to close the game with two goals of his own to secure his team a 10-6 victory over the Scarlet Hawks.

Ransom led all scorers with five goals and three assists for eight points for Benedictine, while Arbour led the Illinois Tech scorers with three goals. Reed Tangeman, Spencer Meace and Aidan Gans each tallied one goal for the Scarlet Hawks.

Illinois Tech goalie Zane Handy, who also led his team with six ground balls, tallied 15 saves in the complete-game effort. His counterpart Evan Killbane made 15 saves for the Eagles.

The Scarlet Hawks will end their 2021 regular season on Saturday, April 24 when they host Concordia (Wis.) at Stuart Field. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
