CHICAGO-The Illinois Institute of Technology men's soccer team has announced their 2020 schedule. The 19-game slate will begin on September 1, when the Scarlet Hawks face Albion College in the front-end of a two-match swing in Michigan. Illinois Tech will set their sights on a non-conference schedule that will ensure readiness for Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.
"We have put together a non-conference schedule that will prepare us for NACC play," said Scarlet Hawks head men's soccer coach Marc Colwell. "This will be our third season in the conference and we are prepared to take a big step forward in our level of play. Knowing we were one result away from qualifying for the conference tournament last season, we will have to start fast this year and play at a high level consistently throughout the season."
The Scarlet Hawks will conclude their Michigan stay on September 4 at Kalamazoo College, who qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament as an at-large selection with an 11-5-2 overall record. Illinois College (September 7), Bluffton (September 11), Alma (September 13), Ripon (September 20), Blackburn (September 23) and Finlandia (October 11) round out Illinois Tech's non-conference bouts.
NACC play will open at defending regular season and tournament champion Dominican University (Ill.) on September 16. The regular season finale will pit the Scarlet Hawks at home against Rockford University on October 18. Illinois Tech will play a majority of their schedule at home as 10 contests are set to be played at Stuart Field, while the remaining nine bouts will occur on the road.
