Wauwatosa, WI - On Saturday, the Illinois Tech men's soccer team faced off in Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) action against the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors. The game seemed as if it were going to end in a draw as the final whistle drew near, but the Warriors had other plans as they tacked on three goals in the final 10 minutes to defeat the Hawks 4-1.

How it Happened

  • The Warriors wasted no time getting on the board. At 5 minutes, 43 seconds, KJ McNealey Jr. put the Warriors on top with a shot into the upper 90 to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead.

  • Both sides held up defensively from that moment on as the Hawks recorded one shot to the Warriors zero between the 6th and the 21st minute.

  • Then, in the 22nd minute, the Hawks put themselves on the scoreboard with a goal by Zahed Al-Hajji into the upper left corner. Al-Hajji was assisted by Josh Plimpton on the play.

  • Coming out of halftime, and for a majority of the second half, the Hawks and Warriors were tied up 1-1.

  • In the final 10 minutes of play, the Warriors found a second wind to tack on three goals to their total. In the 81st minute, Joseph Raasch placed the ball into the lower right corner to make it 2-1 in favor of the Warriors. Four minutes later, Jason Cano made it a 3-1 game with a goal low and left to get it past the Hawks goalkeeper. The final goal of the match then came in the 86th minute when Victor Moreno placed the ball low and right from a Tony Bedolla assist to hand the Hawks a 4-1 loss.
