Dubuque, Iowa- The Illinois Institute of Technology swim teams took on Iowa Central College and Loras College this past weekend. The Iowa Central College teams proved to be too much for both IIT and Loras, but IIT had a strong showing for their first away meet. The women got their first dual meet win of the season, and moved to 1-2. While the men improved to 2-1 overall.

Both teams continued to showcase their ability to swim a variety of events. The men could only muster event wins in the diving events versus a strong Iowa Central College team, but picked up a few top three finishes. Their largest contributions came from Freshman Kanoa Sawai and Samuel Kastan. Sawai would get 2nd place in both of his individual events (200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke), while Kastan picked up a 2nd pace finish in the 50 freestyle. Junior Seth Wissenbach had a strong finish and got 2nd place in the 400 I.M. Newcomer Kael Seaver got his first collegiate wins in the diving events.

The Tech women had 5 event wins from 3 different swimmers. Senior Katy Lydon won both of her individual events (1000 freestyle and 100 freestyle), Sophomore Megan Burrill also won both of her individual events (100 butterfy and 500 freestyle), and Freshman Anna Slominski won the 400 I.M. All three ladies posted season best times in their events. Burrill and Slominski tagged up for a 1-2 finish in the 500 freestyle, and the women were able to keep pace with Iowa Central for a while, but ultimately didn't have enough depth to pick up both wins.

The teams will face Kalamazoo, this Saturday, at the Western Michigan pool. The meet will begin at 1:00 P.M.
