Illinois Tech Swimming and Diving Honors Senior Swimmers

Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech Swimming and Diving team honored their senior swimmers during a Senior Day intrasquad meet on Saturday, January 22nd at Ekco Pool. Women's team seniors Captain Claudia Flores and Captain Megan Burrill, and Men's team seniors Seth Wissenbach and Matthew Randle capped off their final swims as Scarlet Hawks as the team continues to prepare for the Liberal Arts Conference Championship Meet in two weeks time.

For the women's team, the seniors kicked off the meet with an impressive win in the 200-yard mixed medley relay. Flores' 33.91 backstroke leg set the tone early as Burrill continued the performance, splitting a 27.48 on the butterfly portion.

The team continued the strong performance through the likes of first-year Maria Plencner who finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 28.96. Junior Anna Slominski posted a time of 55.13 in the 100-yard freestyle and second-year Emma Dutkiewicz finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.42.

The afternoon was finished off with strong swims in the 200-yard freestyle relay from second-year Jamie Dean who split a 29.34 & first-year Kristen Hampton with a time of 26.54.

 

On the men's side, the fifth-years kicked off the meet with an impressive win in the 200-yard mixed medley relay. Wissenbach's relay split time of 30.20 helped to propel the relay to the victory.

The team continued the strong performance throughout the afternoon. Notable swims included a second-place finish from first-year Marko Nikoletic in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 56.03. A close race in the 100 freestyle saw junior Sam Kastan win with a finishing time of 50.98 seconds.

The afternoon was finished off with strong swims in the 200-yard freestyle relay from second-year Jason Torok with a split of 23.87 & second-year Nick LeDonne splitting a 24.44.

Full results can be found on the team schedule page. The Scarlet Hawks will travel to Lake Forest, Illinois on January 29th to take on the Lake Forest College Foresters in the final dual meet of the season.
