Swimming Completes Day One at Liberal Arts Championship

Elsah, Ill. - The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks swim team arrived in Elsah, IL for the 2022 Liberal Arts Championships. The conference championships will be held over a four day weekend with day 1 being kicked off by the 800-yard Freestyle Relay. 

On the men's side, the A relay, consisting of junior Mark Klinchin, sophomore Mathiew Doyle, sophomore Cameron Kramer, and fifth-year Seth Wissenbach, finished in second place with a time of 7:16.15. With strong performances across the board, including a lifetime best 1:45.14 from Klinchin, the Scarlet Hawks are in a solid position going into day 2.

Also competing in the men's 800-yard Freestyle relay, was the B relay consisting of sophomore Jason Torok, sophomore Nicolas LeDonne, first-year Griffin Colomer, and first-year Cole Kincart. With each member near lifetime bests, the relay finished in a time of 7:35.97.

On the women's side, the A relay, consisting of junior Anna Slominski, senior Claudia Flores, first-year Kristen Hampton, and senior Megan Burrill, placed second with a finishing time of 8:06.69. A strong, lifetime best from Slominski & a season-best from Hampton helped propel the relay to a time drop of nearly 30 seconds from their seed time. 

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action for day 2. Events will include the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 500-yard freestyle, the 200-yard Individual Medley, the 50-yard freestyle and the 400-yard medley relay.
