Men's Tennis Downs MSOE - Clinches Third Straight NACC Regular Season Title

Racine, Wis. - Illinois Tech Men's Tennis clinched their third consecutive conference title, defeating host MSOE 8-1 Saturday evening in Racine, Wisconsin to win the NACC regular season championship. With the win, the Scarlet Hawks secured the number one seed and a first-round bye in the conference post-season tournament. They finish conference play with a 7-0 record (9-8 overall). MSOE dropped to 5-2 in NACC play and and 7-12 overall. The Raiders will be the number three seed in the tournament and will host number six seed Lakeland University on Tuesday, May 3rd.

The Scarlet Hawks have now won three straight NACC regular season championships, dating back to the 2018-2019 season (the 2019-2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic). Over that stretch, the Hawks have not lost a single conference match, going 9-0, 5-0 and now 7-0 in conference play. The Hawks will also be looking to win their third straight NACC Tournament title when play begins next week.

The Hawks swept singles play 6-0, with players one through six Alann Torres, Davis Housman, Nabil Fawaz, Pablo Marroquin Borque, Jordan Lauer and Huy Ngo all winning their matches.

In doubles play, the Hawks finished 2-1. The number one pair of Torres and Lauer defeated the Raiders' Alec Dam and Elex Nakasato 8-2. The number two pair of Housman and Ngo defeated Joe Chong and Daniel Lukasek 8-6. MSOE's lone match victory came against the Hawks' number three doubles pair of Nabil and Marroquin Borque, with Josh Fay and Benjamin Steves winning 8-7.

The Scarlet Hawks will have a first round bye in next week's NACC post-season tournament. They will host the lowest surviving seed among Wisconsin Lutheran (#4), St. Norbert (#5) or Lakeland (#6) on Friday, May 6th.
