Chicago, Ill. – The Illinois Tech men’s tennis team had a highly successful season on the courts, and that earned the squad several accolades off the court when the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced their men’s tennis all-conference selections.

The Scarlet Hawks claimed two major awards, with Davis Housman being named the NACC Co-Player of the Year (along with Wisconsin Lutheran’s Evan Sadowski), and Head Coach Kris Powell being named the NACC Coach of the Year. In addition, five players were named to the all-conference singles team, and four players were named to the all-conference doubles team.

Housman, a junior Architecture major from Plano, Texas, finished the season with a 15-5 record as the Hawks’ number two singles player, while posting a 13-9 record in the number two doubles pairing with Huy Ngo. Housman’s play was even more stellar in conference play, where he held a 7-0 mark in both singles and doubles play.

Powell, in his first season as head coach, guided the team to a 12-9 record overall, while going 7-0 in NACC play. The team won both the NACC regular season and post-season titles. Powell’s efforts helped the team achieve their third consecutive NCAA post-season berth, where the Scarlet Hawks advanced to the second round for the second consecutive year.

In singles recognition, Housman joined teammates Allan Torres, Nabil Fawaz, Pablo Marroquin Borque and Jordan Lauer in being named to the 2022 NACC All-Conference Singles team. Each player was undefeated in conference singles play this past season. Fawaz went 15-7 overall (7-0 NACC); Lauer was 13-6 (6-0); Marroquin Borque finished 11-9 (7-0). Torres, the team’s number one singles player, was 9-10 overall, but 7-0 in conference play.

The 2022 NACC All-Conference doubles team included Housman and Ngo, along with Torres and Lauer. Housman and Ngo finished 13-9 overall (7-0 NACC), while Torres and Lauer were 5-1 in conference play as the number one doubles pairing.
