Men’s Tennis Back in Win Column With 9-0 Victory Over Marian

Appleton, Wis. - On Saturday, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's tennis team secured their first win of March against the Marian University Sabres in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action. The Hawks (3-10, 2-0) defeated the Sabres (0-1, 0-1) 9-0 to bring home their first win since February 26th. 

In doubles action, Alann Torres and Nabil Fawaz partnered to take down Nathan Hunter and Hayden Chase 8-0 in No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, the duo of Jordan Lauer and Danial Zindani defeated Jarod Lua and Ryan Azzaline 8-0. Lastly, the pairing of Rodrigo Casado and Ulyses Bueno Canosa took down Payton Fox and Emmett Marckese 8-0.

The Hawks domination continued onto the singles side as Torres, Fawaz, Lauer, Zindani, Casado, and Bueno Canosa all won their matches 6-0, 6-0 over the Sabres. 

Head Coach Kris Powell had the following to say about Saturday's win: "I'm happy with their performance and I'm proud of the guys being able to adapt and play with different doubles partners and positions." 

The Hawks will look to continue where they left off on Sunday when they return to Chicago and welcome the Lakeland University Muskies (0-1, 0-1) to the XS Tennis Center for a 9:00 a.m. NACC match-up.
