Doyle Wreaks Havoc for Scarlet Hawks at North Central

NAPERVILLE, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's track & field squad embarked on the North Central College (Ill.) Invite at the Al. B Carius Track in Naperville, Illinois on Saturday. The Scarlet Hawks registered 10th place with nine points, while host North Central claimed the team title with 143 points. 

"We had a fantastic day today, especially on the middle distance side," said IIT head track & field coach Tyler McQuality. "Louis and Tom running top five all-time marks in the mile were definitely highlights. It will be nice to have this next week off from competition to get back to work and fine tune the things we need to improve on for the NACC Indoor Championship in three weeks."

The mile run was all Thomas Doyle, who crossed the finish line at 4:29.57 en route to fourth place out of 33 runners. Louis Ketchman followed in seventh place with a 4:30.61. Doyle built on that momentum in the 800 meter run with a 14th-place time of 2:02.46. The 800 meter run was all Evan Balizado, who clocked-in seventh place with a 1:59.65.

Robert Mathis wreaked havoc for the Scarlet Hawks in the 60 meter dash with a 10th-place time of 7.14. 

Jacob Gagner notched 16th place in the 400 meter dash with a 54.13, while Dillon Rattray-Mattis (59.78) took 31st place, followed by Saikiran Yerragontila (1:06.42) in 34th place. Gagner also paced IIT in the 200 meter dash in 28th place with a 24.25. Julian Go (9:29.53) was the lone Scarlet Hawk in the 3000 meter run, where he notched 17th place. 

Barry Brookins highlighted the throws with an 11th-place toss of 13.25m in the weight throw, and a 12th-place mark of 12.77m in the shot put.

The Scarlet Hawks will compete at the University of Chicago Margaret Bradley Invite on Saturday, February 22 at 11:30 a.m.
