CHICAGO—Members of the Illinois Institute of Technology men's and women's track & field squads competed at the Carthage College Final Qualifier in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Friday. No team scores were recorded.
Thomas Doyle commanded the Scarlet Hawks with a school-record time of 4:27.02 in the one mile run, which secured him second place. Doyle narrowly edged Illinois Tech head track & field coach Tyler McQuality, who registered a third-place time of 4:27.24 in the mile. Not far behind McQuality was Louis Ketchman, who took fifth place with a 4:32.58.
Evan Balizado registered a fantastic day for Illinois Tech in the 800 meter run, where he crossed the finish line at 1:59.10 en route to third place. Julian Go highlighted the Scarlet Hawks in the 5000 meter run in seventh place with a 16:15.58. Barry Brookins rounded out the Illinois Tech men competitors with a 15th-place toss of 13.60m in the weight throw.
Abigail Schulz was effective for the Illinois Tech women in the 800 meter run as she secured a 2:30.33, good enough for fifth place. Zoey Krevitz followed Schulz in 13th place with a 3:03.78. Erin Nelson clocked-in a 20:38.54 in the 5000 meter run, which deadlocked her in second place.
The Scarlet Hawks have concluded their 2020 indoor season, and will kick-off the outdoor campaign at the Washington University (Mo.) Distance Carnival on Friday, April 3 at 5:00 p.m.
