Robert Mathis Breaks Outdoor 200 Meter Dash School Record at Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday

CHICAGO—The second meet of 2021 pitted the Illinois Institute of Technology men's track & field team at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Green & White Invite on Saturday. The Scarlet Hawks registered sixth place out of 14 teams with 29 points. 

Robert Mathis broke the Illinois Tech outdoor men's 200 meter dash school record with a third-place time of 22.67. 

Thomas Doyle was a work horse for the Scarlet Hawks on Saturday as he competed in the 1500 meter run, 800 meter run and 4x400 meter relay in his second outdoor meet of his career. Doyle tallied a third-place time of 2:01.25 in the 800 meter run, while Evan Balizado trailed him in fourth place with a 2:01.49. The momentum continued for Doyle with a sixth-place time of 4:07.91 in the 1500 meter run.

The 4x400 meter relay resulted in third place with a 3:36.75 for Balizado, Doyle, Jacob Gagner and Robert Mathis

The 5000 meter run saw Julian Go notch fifth place with a 16:55.14.

The Scarlet Hawks will compete in the Benedictine (Ill.) Eagle Tune-Up on Friday, April 30.
